Thinai uppuma

1 cup thinai

1 large onion, chopped

2 green chillies, chopped

coriander and curry leaves, chopped fine

2 tsp mustard seeds

2 tsp urad dal split

1 tsp channa dal

4 cups water

3 tsp oil

salt

1. Place the oil in a large cooking pan; allow the mustard seeds to pop and then lightly roast the urad dal, and channa dal till they turn golden.

2. Add the onion, curry leaves and fry till golden.

3. Add in the water and salt to taste.

4. As the water comes to the boil put in the washed thinai, lower the flame, keep stirring and cook till done.  Serve hot with chutney or gotsu.
