Green gram mix (snack)

2 cups green gram
2 onions
1 large carrot
½ large coconut
2 tsp  lime juice
1 tsp oil
1 tbsp mustard seeds
salt to taste

1. Soak the dal in water overnight. Tie the dal in clean, white cloth and allow it to sprout (if left for 2 days it will be more nutritious). Chop the onion fine. Wash the carrots.

2. Heat a frying pan and add oil. Put in seasoning; then add onions and carrots. Sauté for just a minute or two. Then add the sprouted dal. Add the scraped coconut. Stir well. Squeeze in the lime juice and salt and mix well.

This mix can be had just as a nutritious snack or as a side dish that is served as part of a meal.
