Breadfruit (tender jackfruit) side dish
Kerala style vegetable side dish
1 small breadfruit
3 tbsp grated coconut (fresh)
1 tsp coriander seeds
2 red chillies
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
curry leaves
1 tbsp good quality coconut oil
1. Remove the skin and chop the breadfruit into small cubes and boil them in water till tender.
2.Dry roast coconut, coriander seeds and red chillies and grind them to a fine paste.
3.In a thick-bottomed pan (kadai) heat coconut oil, add mustard seeds, let them splutter, then add curry leaves. To that add the boiled (and drained) breadfruit pieces, the ground paste, salt and mix well on low heat. Cook for 2 to 3 min and remove from fire. Serve as a side-dish (poriyal). Previous Next Home
