Kathal ki sabji(tender jackfruit) side dish
North Indian style breadfruit or tender jackfruit vegetable side dish
1 small breadfruit de-skinned and diced
1 large potato diced
2 medium onions finely chopped
2 medium tomatoes finely chopped
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1/2 tsp each of coriander powder
½ tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
oil for frying
1. In a pan add one tbsp cooking oil and add the diced jackfruit and potato. Fry for 5-7 minutes. Remove and keep aside.
2. In the same pan, heat another tablespoon of oil; add the onions, ginger garlic paste, the four powders, tomatoes and mix well. Cook till the oil separates.
3. To that add the fried potato, jackfruit, salt and 1/2 cup water and cook till the vegetables are tender. This can be eaten with jeera pulao or with rotis/pooris.
*We can make pulao/biryani with this vegetable as well, either alone or combined with other vegetables.
