To forget how to dig the earth and to tend the soil is to forget ourselves – Mahatma Gandhi

Non-Retail Activities

Workshops

reStore hosts in-person and online events for the community to explore more sustainable ways of life: workshops, conferences, documentary film-screenings, and interactive discussions.

Eco-Bazaar

Is an annual fair held at our premises, with producer-run stalls featuring organic foods, organic clothing, sustainable products, gardening inputs, sweets and savouries, and live food counters. It also includes art & craft workshops, folk dance, interesting speakers and an evening theatre production.

Garden

We have a small nutri-garden set up with the guidance of David & Ann of Idler’s Farm. This is a demonstration centre for our urban gardening workshops. We have planted many herbs, greens, tubers and vegetables here. We also make compost on-site from our market vegetable wastage for use in the garden.

After-School Centre

reStore hosts a volunteer-run after-school centre, for middle school kids from the Government Adi-Dravidar school, Palavakkam. The main focus is skill development in reading, writing and speaking Tamil and English via activities and interesting learning materials. (The after-school centre is temporarily closed for logistical reasons).

Relief Material Distribution

At times of natural disasters and the pandemic, reStore has stepped up to contribute in kind (organic groceries), run collection drives for relief materials and helped distribute these.
